There is no doubt that for most women, their wedding day is likely to be the most exciting day of their lives. There are many different ways to celebrate this occasion from the most elegant and formal wedding complete with full wedding dress and regalia to a much simpler affair and informal wedding gowns. Not everyone wants to have their wedding in a church and be trussed up in a formal gown that makes it hard to breath let alone move.

Informal weddings are becoming very popular from those that are held in the family backyard to ones held on the beach or in a favorite location. Designers are becoming much more aware of this trend and have started creating informal wedding gowns that are ideally suited to this type of environment. Just because the happy couple does not wish to have their wedding in a very formal setting does not mean that the bride does not wish to look her best.

In some instances the bride might have had a formal wedding for her first marriage and if this is to be her second marriage does not feel the need for this type of setting.  When we are young and idealistic the thought of a glorious white wedding gown with a long train appeals to the dream of a princess marrying her prince, however as we get older we tend to take into account how we really feel about many things and this includes the idea of spending thousands of dollars on dress that is only going to be worn once.

Practicality tends to play a much bigger role in planning many of today’s weddings. The number of parents who can afford to spend lavish amounts of money on their daughters’ wedding is significantly lower than it was in the past and as such this tradition is slowly dying out. This leaves the bride and groom to foot the bill for the entire event.  Informal wedding gowns tend to cost significantly less than their more formal counterparts.

The last thing to consider when looking at informal wedding gowns is that since they tend to be made of sturdier and more practical materials that make it easier to take the gown and reuse it for an evening gown for another occasion. Many of these dresses are simple yet sleek in design and come in a wide variety of colors. The concept is to give the bride a dress that is comfortable and easy to wear yet still manages to look elegant on her special day.
